Twinsburg, Ohio - Hitachi Medical Systems America, Inc. (HMSA) celebrated its tenth anniversary this month. The company began in June, 1989 in order to introduce the permanent magnet MRI systems of Hitachi Medical Corporation into the U.S. marketplace. Since 1989, HMSA has become the national market leader in Open MRI sales and has expanded into high-field superconductive (1.5T) sales, as well as X-ray angiography.
HMSA is celebrating its tenth anniversary by providing free Service Maintenance Agreement (SMA) extensions to all of its SMA customers of record as of June 1, 1999 who have been covered by an SMA for at least one year. Each site will receive a Certificate of Appreciation crediting one free month extension for each full year the site has been under an SMA.
"This is our way of saying thank you to those customers who not only purchased Hitachi equipment, but also entrusted it to the HMSA Service Maintenance Agreement," said Robert Schlueter, Vice President of Service. "These customers have partnered with us in building Open MRI into the major market segment it is today. We want to show appreciation for their continued confidence."
HMSA has established a leadership position in Open MRI with more than 650 systems installed throughout the United States and 1,700 worldwide. Since the company first popularized the concept of Open MR, it has been the fastest growing segment of MRI, and today accounts for about 50 percent of all MRI system sales.
