Hitachi provides a wide variety of anatomically specific receiver coils rather than relying on general-purpose coils. This often allows the technologist to employ a coil designed particularly for the body part being imaged. Anatomically specific and flexible type coils increase signal-to-noise and therefore improve image quality. Additionally, the vertical magnetic field used by every Hitachi Open MR system allows the use of solenoid coils, which produce an inherently higher SNR than the saddle coils used in horizontal field magnets.
